Before you start driving on a cold, winter morning you need to make some routine checks on your car to make sure that it doesn’t give you any trouble on road. It is not only the skidding and slipping problem that one can face while driving during winter. Other parts of the car such as the battery and the thermostat may also require some work before they can function properly.

Tire Check is Most Essential

As far as tires are concerned you should check their state before driving your car. You may also replace them with special winter tires that have extra traction control and better grip for slippery roads and snow covered paths. If the rubber on the tires has worn out or if there are nails and pebbles sticking into their surface dangerously you should change them immediately to avoid further trouble on road.

Replacing and Cleaning the Various Parts

Replacing your carpet floor mats of the car with all weather ones or those made of rubber is a better idea since the carpet ones can be ruined due to the snow, mud and dirt creating a mess out of them. In case you have to kneel on the road to fix something of your car you can use these rubber or all weather mats to do so in order to protect your cloths.

Fill up the Liquids and Change the Oil

Get you car serviced by a professional to check all parts of it to ensure that they are in full working condition. This includes checking the windshield wiper and filling up on the wiper washing liquid. Make sure your batteries are charged fully. Change them if they are too old. You don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere because your car is not starting.

Check the thermostat and the carburetor as well. Fill your engine oil up with a thinner grade of oil to withstand the cold temperature. Also check the heater in your car. You will need it on a long drive in the cold.

There are chances of your wiper rubber to be completely worn off after enduring an entire season of winter. Therefore, you may have to replace them soon enough.
